This park has many climbable creatures, such as a pair of kangaroos that kids can climb into, an awesome ship, and multiple sea and land creatures. There's also some traditional playground equipment. There are picnic tables scattered all about the park and plenty of easy parking.
*Local Tip - There are two areas of the park, one with concrete animals based around nursery rhymes for kids to play on, and a newer series of playground structures on the other half. The older concrete structures are better suited for older children.
Gage Park is a great example of good public planning many years ago. This park features a large number of play areas for children, plenty of picnic benches, and shaded areas that are all free to the public. Situated directly across from the Topeka Zoo, the park is surrounded by a miniature train which runs throughout the summer that is relatively inexpensive and is great for kids. There is also a carousel at the park just a short drive from the main zoo and playground parking area, as well as a public pool area with additional fees fir both.
It was a really fun park. There was a separate area for little kids playground equipment. There is also a zoo at the park.
Kids kept finding legos pieces. They loved it. I'm still trying to solve the mystery.
We were just driving through on our way to Colorado and happened to find this gem of a park. There is a zoo, pool/water park, amazing playgrounds for the kids, and a ton of space. Large mature trees for shade and very low traffic (at least when we were there). Excellent place to take the kids to get energy out on a road trip. We wish we had something like this where we live!
